WASHINGTON, DC - Joyce Irene
Wiggins, now known as Khadija Abdul-Alim, 62, died Tuesday, April 23, 2002.
She was born Jan. 31, 1940, in Geneva, the daughter of James and Charlotte
Wiggins.
She graduated with honors from Geneva High School in 1958. She was awarded a
scholarship and attended the Francis Payne Bolton School of Nursing at Case
Western Reserve University. She also attended Harvard University and Columbia
University, where she received her certificate as a respiratory therapist. She
finished her career as a teaching supervisor at George Washington University
Hospital. She also had a great interest in holistic medicine.
Mrs. Abdul-Alim also earned a real estate license in the Washington, DC area.
She enjoyed travel, visiting Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Caribbean. She also
enjoyed tennis, dancing, and music.
Mrs. Abdul-Alim was a member of the Unity Center for Truth in the Nation's
Capitol, in Washington, DC.
Survivors include her mother, of Geneva; and her brother, David Wiggins of
Aurora.
A service was held April 27 at the Unity Center of Truth in the Nation's
Capitol, Washington DC, with the Rev. LaFayette Seymour officiating.
