JOHN D. DERYLAK

ANDOVER -- John D. Derylak, age 67, of Stanhope-Kelloggsville Road, Pierpont, OH, died unexpectedly Saturday evening, September 3, 2005, at St. Joseph's Medical center, Andover, OH.

Mr. Derylak was born October 27, 1937, in Geneva, OH, the son of John J. and Esther (Gray) Derylak, and has been a longtime resident of Ashtabula Co.

John was a 1955 graduate of Geneva High School and later joined the United States Navy, where he served until September 14, 1961, when he was honorably discharged.

He was employed for 23 years by the former Rockwell Brake of Ashtabula before taking his retirement. He then went on to work for Glastics of Jefferson for 10 more years as a machine repairman.

Mr. Derylak attended the Pierpont Presbyterian Church, and was a former member of the Pierpont Volunteer Fire Dept. He enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Katharine I. "Kay" (Herman), whom he married on August 19, 1972; twin sons, Andrew John Derylak of Pierpont, OH, and Timothy Mark (Mellissa) Derylak of Conneaut, OH and son, David Allen; daughter, Lynette Arlene; five granddaughters, Liberty, Paris, Mikalynn, Cadence and Jennifer; two grandsons, Daniel and Ryan; and one sister, Mary Jane Novak of Geneva, OH.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Barbara.

Memorial Services will be held Thursday, September 8, 2005, at 11 a.m. at the Pierpont Presbyterian Church, 71 St. Rt. 7, Pierpont, OH, and the Rev. Ed Diehl, pastor of the church, will officiate. Burial of ashes will be held at the convenience of the family, at a later date.

Calling Hours for family and friends will be held Wednesday, September 7, 2005, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the CHILDS & WILLIAMS FUNERAL HOME, 96 St. Rt. 7, Pierpont, OH.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either the Pierpont Volunteer Fire Dept. or to the Pierpont Presbyterian Church.
