Harry Stuart Burkholder

GENEVA - Harry Stuart Burkholder, 68, of Geneva, died Friday June 15, 2001, at his home.
He was born Dec. 26, 1932 in Geneva, the son of John P. and Helen (Marshall) Burkholder.
Mr. Burkholder was a lifetime area resident. He graduated from Geneva High School in 1951.
Mr. Burkholder married Carol (Weaver) on Aug. 8, 1953 in Geneva.
He owned and operated H. S. Burkholder Fruit Farm and Market with his wife, Carol, in Harpersfield until retirement in 1991. Mr. Burkholder and his wife were dealers for Appalachian Log Structures.
He was active in model railroading and was an avid fan of his grandchildren's sporting and school events. He enjoyed modern square dancing.
Mr. Burkholder was a member and past master of Geneva Lodge Chapter 147 of the Grand Chapter of the Royal Arch Masons. He was a 32nd degree Mason, a member of Grace Chapter 11 Order of Eastern Star, a member of the Ohio Farmer's Union and member of the National Railway historical society. Mr. Burkholder was a former DeMolay basketball and baseball coach.
Survivors include his wife; four daughters, Judie Snyder of Superior, Colo., Janie Spade of Austinburg, Terry Valdez of Louisville, Ky., Tamie Steadman of Merritt Island, Fla.; a sister, Hallie Hutchins of Ashtabula; two brothers, Donald Burkholder of Jefferson, Ronald Burkholder of Perry; 16 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Bekie Sue in 1963; two sisters, Bettie Perkins, Marjorie Burkholder and a brother, David Burkholder.
Service will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Austinburg First United Church of Christ, Routes 307 and 45 in Austinburg, with the Revs. Gretchen Wagner and Gordon Densmore officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Ashtabula County, 2420 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, or to the Austinburg First United Church of Christ's building fund, 2870 St. Route 307, Austinburg.
