Philip F. Mathieu

ASHTABULA - Philip F. Mathieu Jr., 71, died Tuesday, April 16, 2002, at home while working in his yard.
He was born on May 6, 1930 in Cleveland, the son of Philip and Ione (Quick) Mathieu.
Mr. Mathieu was a 1948 graduate of Geneva High School.
He served in the U.S. Army from March 1951 until December 1953.
Mr. Mathieu married Harriet J. (Barnard) on Sept. 15, 1951 at the First Baptist Church.
He retired from General Tire and Rubber Co., in 1985 after 23 years of service. After retirement he worked eight years with Vygen Corp.
Mr. Mathieu was a member of the First Baptist Church.
He was an avid sports fan; he was the commissioner of the Ashtabula County Church Softball League from 1971-1975.
Mr. Mathieu enjoyed bowling, softball, gardening and working in the yard.
Survivors include his wife; Harriet; his daughter, Kim Hutchinson; and his son, Phillip, both of Ashtabula; his grandchildren, Stephanie and Zachary Hutchinson and Philip and Shelby Mathieu; and his sisters, Louise Torok of Geneva and Marilyn Zanzig of Easily, S.C.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Terry and Ralph and his sister, Daisy Hribar.
Services will be 11 a.m., Saturday in the Zaback-Czup Funeral Home, 500 Prospect Road, Ashtabula, with the Rev. Virgil Reeve officiating.
Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 9 p.m., Friday at the funeral home.
