Jack R. Quickel


AUSTINBURG - Jack R. Quickel, 77, of Austinburg, died Thursday, April 17, 2003, at the Hamot Medical Center, Erie, Pa., he was a lifelong Geneva area resident.

Born on December 11, 1925, in Geneva, the son of Cecil and Dorothy (Warren) Quickel.

He married Frances Svenson Sept. 30, 1996, in Denmark Township.

Mr. Quickel was a graduate of Geneva High School in 1947. He served in the United States Army during World War II in Central Europe and then worked at the G.E. Jefferson Welds Plant, retiring in 1982 after 30 years.

He was a Civil War buff and also enjoyed hunting, fishing and trap shooting. He was a former member of Ashtabula County Casting Club and a member of Park Street Christian Church, Geneva.

Survivors include his wife, Frances; one daughter, Elaine (James) Tuttle of Conneaut; one son, Bruce (Elizabeth) Quickel of Geneva; two stepsons, Chris (Roberta) Svenson and David (Laura) Svenson, all of Denmark Township; 13 grandchildren, Angela, Jacob, Robin, Adrian, Denise, Daniel, Diane, Eileen, Justin, Janet, Susan, Davina and Craig; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Gretchen Quickel; and one son, Barry Quickel.

Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at The Behm Family Funeral Homes, Inc., 175 S. Broadway, Geneva. Calling hours will be 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, April 21, 2003, at the funeral home. The Rev. Larry Wade of Park Street Christian Church will officiate. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Geneva.
